Hunger Games

3 book series... Roughly 400 pages apiece...less than 48 hours to read all three. Seriously, even for me, that is saying something. I don't know if I have ever read a series so amazing. From the first chapter it seems Suzanne Collins has you completely enthralled. It's horrifying how little I actually did the last few days because I could not seem to put these books down. Literally. I read in the bath, while eating breakfast, sitting on the floor in the bathroom while I bathed my kiddo.. If I was awake, I was reading. That has happened a few times but I don't know if I ever came away from it feeling like I needed to make other people read it. In case you are reading this haven't heard of them and are curious as to what they are even about: In Panem, formally known as North America, the Capitol rules with an iron fist over 12 districts. After an uprising that resulted in the annihilation of a 13th district, referred to by the people of Panem as the Dark Days, the people of the 12 remaining districts are forced to participate in a lottery of sorts every year as a reminder that the Capitol is in control. This lottery chooses two children from each district and puts them in a televised fight to the death known as the Hunger Games. Maybe having a child and trying to imagine having to watch something like this happen to them is what really got me in this series... Whatever it was, it definitely made an impression. Luckily, for those that are not little bookworms like myself, the first movie of the series comes out in March of 2012. If its anything like the book it is a must see. If, on the other hand, you are capable of sitting down and reading one of the best books I have ever read... I highly suggest getting this book... Like yesterday.
